Stephen D. Bail, founder and Executive Director, has been an educator for 25 years. In 1997, he established Educational Alternatives with a goal of providing an environment in which we "teach learning" to children with language and learning disabilities. His use of a multi-sensory curriculum goes back to his roots in California in the mid 1970's when he studied sensory integration learning techniques under such well known pioneers as Jean Ayres, Michael Bobath and Cathy Groves.

Mr. Bail earned his Bachelor's degree at the University of California at Berkeley and his Master's degree at San Francisco State University. He has applied a multi-sensory educational philosophy in classrooms with students who were language delayed, learning disabled, Hearing Impaired, multi-handicapped or severely learning impaired.

His extensive experience in working with families includes having introduced project SKI*HI (a home based parent training program for parents of Deaf or Hard of Hearing Children) into Minnesota in the early 1980's, and as Director of the National Deaf and Hard of Hearing Program for MELD, a nationally recognized parent support organization in Minneapolis.

He is the proud father of Laura, Emily, Melissa and Michael.
