Dear Faculty and Staff of Educational Alternatives,

To begin, I would like to say how pleased I am with my sister Samantha's improvement over the years. Since she has been enrolled in your school, she has developed extraordinary skills that were thought impossible by others. Her reading and writing skills have been boosted tremendously, and I cannot help but notice here enthusiasm  about going to school in the mornings. It has been such a pleasure to witness such a delightful outcome and interest in Samantha. How often do children say they actually want to go to school the next day?

She has developed several very special friendships with other students at the school who apparently enjoy it as much as she does. She has participated in a number of activities in school that have gone far from forgotten. In conjunction with allowing her to be herself and outgoing around others, these activities have lifted her self esteem and made her feel truly important. For example, she was honored the award of "Student of the Year", and was elected to Student Council as well. She has made an ongoing effort to progress more and more each day. Because of this school and its elite program, she has yet to give up. I am proud to say that Educational Alternatives has given my sister hope for the future and here dreams of going to school for the Culinary Arts. She is aware of what she must accomplish and nothing but a good education will get her there. I can honestly say that school is doing just that for Sam.

Thank you for all the hard work and dedication put in these children's interest and towards their needs. A chance should be given to every person in this world and Educational Alternatives has not failed in this aspect whatsoever. We feel extremely fortonate to have people like those in your program that truly care for these very special children. Thank you again.

Sincerely,

Michelle Archer

To: Mr. Bail, Mrs. Bail, & Teachers,

I wanted to let you know how happy I am with my sons' program. You have all worked so hard with Ulises and he has come so far in such a short period of time. He has become more verbal, more alert, he is eating on  his own, and is overall a much happier boy. I couldn't have done this without you! I can't tell you how very proud I was when he was named "Student of the Month"!

I know my son is happy, learning, and truly enjoys going o school. I also know how much all of your staff loves and cares for him. I thank God for you, for Mr. Carlos and all of the teachers. I can only hope God gives your the strength and wisdom to continue with your work. Again, I want to thank you all.

My son Travis is 8 years old. He is mildly autistic among other learning disabilities. Before I decided to take him out of the public school system he cried every single morning about going to school. It broke my heart to drop him off there every day. Since he has been at Educational Alternatives, he has not complained one time about getting up and going to school, he actually looks forward to it.

The teachers display such patience and caring attitudes with the children. I love the fact that I am welcome to come in and visit my son’s classroom any time I want to.

Travis’ speech and understanding of the world around him has improved so much in one year at Educational Alternatives. He is much more well adjusted and I have been able to successfully take him off the medicat8oins that he had been taking.

Mr. Bail is always there for an encouraging word and tips on how to help Travis succeed in his school work as well has his day to day activities.

I love it and most of all, Travis loves it!

My son Daniel started at Educational Alternatives this past fall, and he has made significant progress both educationally and socially. The warm loving, environment and low student to teacher ratio has been a key factor for this success. I am very impressed with the way the administration tailors the educational process to the need of the individual student. There is much attention to detail and as a parent, I feel confident that my child will not “slip through the cracks.” My husband and I are very happy with the school in every way and feel blessed that Daniel is able to attend Educational Alternatives.

Sincerely,

Karen Gentry

To the Staff of Educational Alternatives:

Before my daughter, Samantha entered 6th grade, she had been attending school in Miami-Dade County since Pre-Kindergarten. She had difficulty reading and even at 12 years of age was having problems identifying the letters of the alphabet.

While Samantha was attending public school, I had many meetings with school administrators regarding her academic progress. I had even had a due process hearing on one occasion, with an attorney, and then later had another when the voucher system was initiated. Samantha had been labeled "educable," however because of what were perceived as ongoing "difficulties," the Dade County school system decided to label her as "trainable." This was totally unsatisfactory to me because I saw the problem as not Samantha's as much as it was that of a teacher who just didn't have the time to spend teaching my daughter.

With the advent of vouchers, I was overjoyed at the opportunity to place her in a private school - one that would have a more advantageous teacher-to-student ratio. That's when I happened upon Educational Alternatives. The school has literally changed our lives. During the first interview with Stephen Bail, principal of the school, he had Samantha learn seven new words - within only 2 hours - previously considered a virtual insurmountable feat for her. She also learned three different sentences. This was like an epiphany and reinforced my always-held belief that she possessed the ability to learn, but needed the proper stimulation and teacher interest to do so.

Samantha is special and requires different teaching techniques, but the ability to learn is present. After five months at Educational Alternatives, Samantha came home and read me her first book! I didn't care that it was at an elementary level - only that she read it with success and joy. She now possess a level of self-esteem previously absent. Her spirit is soaring.

She is now at the end of her first year at Educational Alternatives. She has successfully read three books, and I can't describe the sheer joy that we both have and the pride that we both share. The Dade County Schools told me that because Samantha's had an IQ of 42, she would not be able to read.

Their solution was to place her in a "trainable" class - basically a demotion from "educable." Educational Alternatives provided the motivation and skills and Samantha proved them all wrong! Not only is Samantha reading, but her math, science and social studies skills have increased. She has acquired social skills and has confidently made new friends.

She now feels she is part of something, and I cannot begin to describe how the joy has been put back into both of our lives. We owe you a debt of gratitude and thanks. Each day we observe and take part in the atmosphere of support and love and learning that Educational Alternatives provides for each and every child who attends. Thank you so much.

Sincerely,
Roxanne Hrytzay

 Why Educational Alternatives?

Who do parents and children turn to when life is not typical? Where do we go? Who will accept, teach, guide, and love your child? These are my concerns for I too am a parent of a child with many issues. From fine motor to learning disabled along with ADD and ADHD.

Nearly 30 hours a week your child is in the care of other people. Educational Alternatives offers a secure environment where you know your child is being taken care of. That is very important to parents like us. Stephen Bail and his staff has the patience and know how in guiding your child at every level. From life skills to education, discipline and manners you get it all at Educational Alternatives. The outside world is not always a nice place to children like ours. Don't you want your child to learn and grow in an atmosphere where they are comfortable and you have peace of mind?

My son Jamie has been a student at Educational Alternatives for 3 years and they have been a profound influence in his life!

Stephen Bail and his wife, Tere, have a wonderful staff of teachers and aides that are warm and loving and genuinely care about teaching children to grow and learn! On an individual bases they work hard to focus on each student's special needs. Together the students participate in plays and field trips that are not only fun but are very educational.

It is a wonderful learning experience being part of the Educational Alternatives family!

I honestly believe divine guidance led us to your school. Finally, a place exists which shares my hopes and desires for a high standard or quality and a philosophy of education that puts kids first and decision making is not motivated by ego or self-serving agendas, which for parents/teachers is an educational utopia.

My Son, Javier, has been attending Educational Alternatives for the past two years. I am very happy with this school and staff. In particular, I like the school's approach to teaching. I have also witnessed extensive progress in my child's learning of the fundamental subjects taught in your school. In addition, I feel that the school has provided the type of loving, nurturing environment that my son needs in order to grow in an appropriate manner.
